the story behind supernova
As a busy mum of three, I spent years visiting play centres that never quite worked for our family. My 18-month-old would wander freely into areas meant for older children or she’d need constant attention while my new-born had nowhere safe to rest except in my arms or her pram. What should have been a fun outing often felt stressful and more than once I left with an untouched, cold coffee.
After countless conversations with my mum about what we wished existed, I realised there was nothing locally that truly met the needs of families like ours. So, I decided to create it.
Supernova was born- not just as a play space but as somewhere designed with real parenting experiences at its heart. It’s named after my youngest daughter, Nova, who was born with a rare chromosomal condition, 17q12. Despite regular hospital visits and ongoing tests, she faces everything with incredible bravery. She’s our little superstar & the inspiration behind everything we’ve built.
With the help of family, we’ve created a calm, welcoming environment for children aged 5 and under. The open-plan layout allows you to easily keep an eye on your little ones as they explore thoughtfully designed play areas that encourage imagination, learning and sensory development. We’ve also included a gated safe space for pre-crawlers, complete with age-appropriate toys, baby bouncers and jumperoos- so you can finally enjoy a hands free moment & a well-deserved break.
Our café serves barista coffee, matcha, Teapigs teas and a range of soft and seasonal drinks. You’ll also find delicious cakes (including vegan and gluten-free options) granola bowls, bagels and our much-loved loaded banana loaf. For little ones, we offer child-friendly food and knowing first hand how particular they can be, you’re always welcome to bring their own food in.
Every detail of Supernova has been shaped by my journey as a mum, with thoughtful touches designed to make your visit easier, more enjoyable and truly relaxing.
